How To Remove Printing From Glass

    • Information technology's does. You have to soak it though then it will remove everything from the drinking glass not just certain parts of the image.

  • If they are old, the labels add to their value and I personally retrieve they are more than fun with the various designs.

    • @Carol Morrison - I agree about the old ones I won't touch them :) information technology'due south the newer ones I'dlike remove if I can...

  • I actually don't accept an answer, but I've been using white vinegar for so many other things lately, that I would requite it a attempt besides. As well you can add together blistering soda, salt or a tiny bit of Dawn liquid soap. I've killed weeds with it, just cleaned my copper sink with it, and actually apply the plain vinegar on my very dry skin. Practiced luck- Check out an Heinz Vinegar site for many uses, or Hometalk besides.

  • Painted soda bottles are a collectible called Applied Colored Labels and are highly saught for their graphics The days when Coke and Pepsi had competition from "mom and popular" distributors.

    • @Marti Keller Thanks for the info - I'll do a little investigating before I alter any bottles :)

  • If the bottles are labelled, newspaper or plastic, then they should be removable with either a solvent or in the instance of erstwhile fashioned ones, soaking in warm, soapy water. More recent adhesives are harder to remove and volition require the use of some class of solvent (you could try boom polish remover?). If the bottles are from - say the 1940's era - they may exist printed and fired on to the glass. Therefore any attempts to remove would exist extremely hard. It all depends what you desire to practice with the bottles. Sometimes, rather than soak bottles, I accept used eucalyptus oil (or tea tree oil) to remove labels (can u go in the Usa of A?). Years ago, if you lot had a lovely (empty) vino bottle or even a canteen that was seen to be decorative yous would put a candle in the neck and let the candle wax drip down. Soooo trendy.

  • Endeavor rubbing booze for printed on graphics

  • When I read your question my outset reaction was "NOOOOOOoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!" Vintage Soda Bottles are SO COLLECTABLE and highly sought subsequently these days. However that too depends on their status. If their graphics are all scratched up and damaged, the bottle won't be worth every bit much, if anything at all, compared to one with a perfect graphic. Then, with that said..... Any bottles that you have that have graphics that are damaged, I would go ahead and endeavour to remove the graphics. At present, on to my proffer as to how to reach this. Starting time thing y'all should endeavor is some Acetone. Not the blast shine remover, just the kind y'all purchase at the hardware store. Information technology's only a couple of dollars for a gallon, and so it's not a big deal if this doesn't piece of work. I would pour some of the acetone in a shallow pan like a block pan and pour the acetone in the bottom of the pan well-nigh 2" deep and soak the bottles for a while to see if the graphics come up off. Remember to do this in a very well ventilated area because the fumes are toxic. If that doesn't work, wash the bottles thoroughly in hot soapy h2o and allow them to dry out and move on to the side by side suggestion which is, try Paint Remover. Personally I would use Naval Jelly (I think that'south what information technology's called). It'southward a gel paint remover that you paint on, permit sit, then scrape off. Like shooting fish in a barrel Peasy! I hope I was able to help! Good Luck!!

    • @Jennie Herrick Naval jelly is a rust remover, non a paint remover, but they exercise brand paste-type pigment removers. :)

  • Endeavor goo gone. I worked in daycERE AND IT ALWAYS GOT STICKERS OFF.

  • If yous become to Pintrest under my name you will see a department for removing ink from plastic containers. There might be something at that place that can assist you.

I believe you should check on what they are worth earlier you lot exercise annihilation.

  • Every bit I similar to point out, the solvent that works depends upon the adherent that was used - there is no single reply to all possible gummy-situations, grasshopper. Attempt googling for ways to remove labels and endeavour some other until it works. Besides commercial cleaners for mucilage, I've heard of people using WD40, turpentine, acetone, vinegar, booze... my first endeavor would be to score the label well and soak for and extended fourth dimension in hot water and lather. I used to be able to get any wine bottle characterization off - intact - for my record-keeping this way; tho different bottles took differing amounts of soak-time.

  • Sorry for the mistake. It'due south been several years since I've used information technology. No one is perfect or can remember everything perfectly 100% of the time. I'k sure you have misspoken or suggested one product or whatever thinking you were remembering correctly, only to detect out subsequently that your proposition was incorrect. Yous but hope that the person correcting y'all is POLITE Most IT and non RUDE.

    • @Jennie Herrick - I'm willing to give anything a try :) thanks for helping!

  • I take some drinking glasses that take "painted-on" graphics. I also would similar to remove the ad so that I tin can use the spectacles. Assistance!

  • Glad you asked this question. I, likewise, am seeking an like shooting fish in a barrel style to do this. I'm going to try Diana'southward suggestion this weekend! Cheers for sharing.

    • @SusieQ Good luck with yours - I tried it, it took a while just it worked :)

  • Try goo-gone. I worked in day care and goo gone ever took off stickers Good luckk
